Red Line problems in Chicago

According to ABC7 news, a suspicious package was found at the Roosevelt station on the Red Line. The station has been evacuated, and the Red Line is currently not traveling south further than Fullerton. there may be further delays and reroutes on buses, as well.

Uh, yeah. This is a public service message to those of you traveling on CTA this evening, not meant to cause undue panic. There is no report of injuries, explosions, panic, or anything else to worry about except figuring out how to get home.

That is all - good luck out there.

Same thing here in San Francisco -- someone left a backpack in a newsrack and they blew it up. Coincidence?
well, since the london bombing we've now had two "suspicious packages" (today's on the red line, last week's on the brown) and one fake bomb threat on the purple line that was called in by a now-about-to-be-ex employee of the CTA from a payphone at a nearby bar. so yeah, i suspect there's just some of that Extra Vigilance ::cough:: paranoia ::cough:: going on. :/
Driving on LSD is still more dangerous. We saw a beautiful car fire last week.
Hell, the CTA employees are more dangerous than the backpacks. On the Red Line this morning, the driver pulled out so hard from the station that one passenger was flung from his feet before he could sit down. He and his cane collapsed on top of the elderly woman sitting across the aisle from me. Bless her heart, the two of them spent the rest of the ride laughing about how they're so old they hurt all the time anyway!
ooooh, that's right we did! and i have the blurry back-windshield picture to prove it!
